‘Nurses are at forefront in fight against COVID-19 crisis’

Hyderabad, May 12 (Agency) Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said on Wednesday that nurses are in the forefront of the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. “Nurses are doing an exemplary service and are making numerous sacrifices in fighting against this deadly pandemic. I salute them for their selfless and compassionate services,” she said. The Governor was participating in the International Nurses Day-2021 celebrations at Government College of Nursing, adjacent to Raj Bhavan, here, a Raj Bhavan Communique here said.

Remembering her medical college days, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said that as a medico, I have learnt many things from the college staff nurses. “In medical colleges and hospitals,, nurses are the best trainers to the young medicos. I still remember many nurses, who have impacted me a lot,” she added. Terming the nursing as the noble profession, the Governor called upon the youngsters to take up nursing as a profession to serve the humanity.

Paying rich tributes to the memory of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing profession, the Governor saluted all the brave and committed nurses who are working overtime during the pandemic by risking their lives. “Millions of nurses got infected with the COVID-19 and many of them succumbed to the virus. I offer my tributes to all such dedicated and courageous nursing professionals,” she added.
