Modi became PM twice due to weak Cong leadership: Owaisi

Vijayapura, Oct 26 (Representative) All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday said Narendra Modi became Prime Minister twice because of the opportunistic politics of the Congress and its weak leadership including Rahul Gandhi. “Rahul Gandhi lost from Amethi. Am I responsible for it? He won from Wayanad. There are 30 to 35 percent Muslims there. In Maharashtra, Congress supported Shiv Sena by calling it a secular party.”So, this has been the opportunistic politics of theirs (Congress). Therefore Narendra Modi became PM twice. Why? Because of the Congress leadership and Congress party, not because of me,” he told reporters here.Owaisi was replying to a query on the allegations that his party splits the votes of Muslims to help BJP win elections. He further said that the Congress itself is responsible for the pathetic situation.

“I do not require any certificate from either the press or any political party. What should I do with the certificate? Should I wear it and roam award? The Congress party and its leadership including Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are responsible,” he said.Instead of blaming AIMM and his leadership, Owaisi said it is time for the Congress party for introspection, instead of blaming his party for benefitting the BJP in elections. “As many as 16 MLAs left the Congress party in Gujarat. Congress MLAs also left the party in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. In Rajasthan, there is an infighting in Rajasthan Congress. “The party also has only won 50-odd Lok Sabha seats.

So, there is time for them to introspect. The Congress feels that nobody from the minority community should speak for the weaker sections of the society,” he said. Owaisi also ruled out any possible alliance with JDS for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections scheduled for next year. He said his party did not contest the last assembly elections in Karnataka and campaigned for the JDS on the request of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) supremo K Chandrashekar Rao. “It won’t happen this time. I am doing my duty and they are doing their duty,” he said. The AIMIM has fielded four candidates for contesting four wards in the upcoming Vijayapura Municipal Corporation to be held on October 28. “I have come here to campaign for AIMIM candidates,” he said.
