LS adjourned for day, 2 Bills passed without discussion amid Oppn protest

New Delhi, Jul 26 (FN Agency) After the passage of two Bills without discussion, proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned for the day on Monday amid ruckus by the Opposition over various issues, including Pegasus row, inflation and new farm bills. As soon as the House reassembled after the third adjournment at 1500 hrs, several members of the Opposition parties entered the Well of the House and started sloganeering. Rama Devi, who was in the Chair, made repeated requests to the Opposition members to return to their seats. Amid din, The Factoring Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2020 and The National Institutes of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management Bill, 2021 were passed by voice vote and without discussion.

As the Opposition members did not pay heed to Rama Devi’s repeated requests, she adjourned the House for the day. Earlier, proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned thrice on the similar issues. As the House reassembled after the first adjournment, several members of the Opposition parties entered the Well of the House and started sloganeering over the said issues. Amid din, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill, 2021. The Bill is further to amend the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. Earlier in the day, as soon as the House assembled at 1100 hrs, the House paid tributes to the fallen heroes on the 22nd anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas. The House congratulated Mirabai Chanu for winning the silver medal in weightlifting at Tokyo Olympics 2020.
