Police arrest drug peddler, recovered brown sugar in north Kashmir

Baramulla, Apr 2 (Agency) Jammu and Kashmir police arrested a drug peddler and recovered brown sugar in the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir, a police spokesman said. He said a police party from Police Station (PS) Kralpora established a Naka checking at Rationpora Kralpora in Kupwara. During the checking of vehicles and pedestrians, one person moving in a suspicious condition was asked to stop. However, he tried to escape from the spot, a spokesman said adding later he was apprehended after some chase.

He said during his search police recovered 500 grams of brown sugar. The drug peddler identified as Liyaqat Khatana resident of Kundayan Keran was later arrested. FIR no 14/21 u/s 8/21 NDPS act* has been registered in Police Station Kralpora against the accused person, and investigation has taken up.
