Bhubaneswar, Apr 5 (Representative) Economic Offences Wing, Bhubaneswar today arrested one Brahmananda Barik, a loanee, accused of the fraudulent sanction and disbursement of personal loans. EOW sources said Mr Barik was arrested from Joronda, Dhenkanal U/s 420/406/ 409/467/ 468/471/120-B IPC. He is being forwarded to the court of SDJM, Sadar, Cuttack today. The case was registered on March 29,2019 on the complaint of Sukanta Kumar Tripathy, Regional Manager, Odisha Gramya Bank, Cuttack.
Investigation revealed that during 2008-09, under conspiracy hatched amongst the Branch Manager and loanees, an amount of Rs. 38.49 lakhs was sanctioned and disbursed to 20 loanees based on fake and forged documents. Earlier 12 loanees and Amiya Das the accused Branch Manager of Kalinga Gramya Bank, Bidanasi Branch, Cuttack have been arrested in this case. Investigation of the case is continuing
