History-sheeter woman held with 7 kg heroin in Mumbai

Mumbai, Oct 20 (Agency) A 53-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly possessing 7.2 kg heroin worth Rs 22 crore, informed the Anti-Narcotics Cell on Wednesday. The accused was identified as Amina Hama Shaikh alias Lali, a resident of Mankhurd suburb. According to the ANC, the seized drug was meant for distribution to other drug peddlers, who are operating in Mumbai and its adjoining areas.

The arrested woman has a previous criminal background; she was arrested for supplying banned drugs in 2015 and 2018 by Worli and Ghatkopar units of the ANC. Acting on specific information to the Ghatkopar unit that Lali was smuggling a huge quantity of heroin, a trap was laid in Sion Koliwada and she was arrested with drugs on Tuesday night. During interrogation, she revealed that she had received the drug from two smugglers hailing from the Naugana village in Rajasthan. A case against her has been filed under the NDPS Act.
