Pastor Praveen arrested for ‘disturbing communal harmony’ in AP

Kakinada, Jan 14 (Agency) Praveen Chakravarty, a christian leader, Pastor and chairman of Christian institutions here including Mother Theresa schools, KTC children Home, PVRM educational society and Sylom Blind center has been arrested by CID sleuths from Guntur on the charges of allegedly making provocative speeches through social media thereby disturbing the peace and communal harmony, police sources said. He was taken to Guntur where a case was registered against him and remanded to judicial custody. Praveen Chakravarty understood to have made provocative speeches which were circulated in social media, through Facebook and also Youtube channels that he ‘personally hate Hinduism and Hindu Gods and destroyed several Hindu idols in the past’.

He also alleged to have proclaimed that his aim was to change all the villages as Jesus villages. His provocative speech in a recent interview to a You tube channel has became viral leading to lot of protests from Hindu organizations. The CID sleuths announced his arrest on Wednesday in the wake of loud protests all over the state on the series of incidents vandalizing Hindu Gods idols besides generating political heat with the Christian leaders from thirteen districts announcing their resignations to the Telugu Desam party protesting against TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu’s alleged remarks against Christianity.
