Maha CM directs officials to ensure benefits reach to freedom fighters, families

Mumbai, Sep 30 (Agency) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday directed to ensure that freedom fighters are not deprived of government benefits while assuring them that the state government is positive to solve their and their families’ problems. A meeting was held in the mantralaya today regarding various demands of freedom fighters and their families. A delegation led by MLA Gyanraj Chaugule met the Chief Minister. On this occasion, Ports and Mines Minister Dadaji Bhuse, Chief Secretary Manukumar Srivastava among others officials were present.

The General Administration Department should take action regarding how the children of freedom fighters can be given priority for appointment in government service. Mr Shinde said on this occasion that a proposal has been submitted to increase the remuneration currently being received by the freedom fighters and a positive decision will be taken on it. Currently, various activities are being organized on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav. More than 200 martyrs’ memorials at various places in the state should be repaired and beautified. For this, the Chief Minister also directed that District Collectors should take the initiative and make it available from the District Planning Committee, he added.
