Jaishankar meets Tajikistan FM, holds bilateral talks

New Delhi, Mar 31 (Bureau) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday held bilateral talks with Tajikistan Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin and also exchanged views on regional & international issues of interest. Both sides also agreed to focus on further enhancing our economic partnership. ‘Held detailed talks with FM Sirojiddin on all aspects of our bilateral agenda, including development cooperation. Also exchanged views on regional & international issues of interest. Agreed to focus on further enhancing our economic partnership,’ Dr Jaishankar tweeted.

He thanked Muhriddin for the warm welcome extended to him on his first bilateral visit to Tajikistan. ‘Tashakkur FM Sirojiddin Muhriddin for the warm welcome on my first bilateral official visit to Tajikistan as Foreign Minister,’ Dr Jaishankar tweeted. The External Affairs Minister also met Speaker Zokirzoda Mahmadtohir Zoir of Tajikistan and appreciated the strong parliamentary support for Indo- Tajik cooperation. Earlier in the day, at Dusti Square in Dushanbe, the EAM paid respects at the monument of Ismoili Somoni, founder of the first Tajik state.

Dr Jaishankar also met Uzbeikistan Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov on the margins of Heart of Asia Conference. ‘Happy to meet my distinguished colleague FM Abdulaziz Kamilov of Uzbekistan on the margins of @HeartofAsia_IP. Good discussion on our bilateral agenda. Agreed to coordinate closely on regional concerns,’ the EAM tweeted.
