Kochi, June 1 (Bureau) Producer and actor Vijay Babu, who was granted interim pre-arrest bail by the Kerala High Court for sexually exploiting an actress, appeared before the probe team at the Ernakulam South Police station on Wednesday. Vijay Babu, who arrived at the Cochin International Airport at 9.30 AM from Dubai, offered prayers at a temple along with his wife, and later appeared before the probe team along with his advocate. Soon after his arrival at the airport here after 39 days abroad, the emigration wing seized his passport. Though the actor has planned to reach Kerala on May 30, he cancelled the travel apprehending immediate arrest. On Tuesday, the Court granted him the interim pre-arrest bail till next hearing of the case on June 2, observing that the actor, who is abroad willing to submit before the court’s jurisdiction, was apprehending immediate arrest from the airport.
The court also directed him to appear before the probe team on June 2. Talking to newspersons at the Airport, the actor said he has full faith in court and will co-operate with the probe team. The actor who was absconding after the police filed the rape case alleged that the rape case was filed against him to blackmail. The truth will be proven in the court, he added. In April last week, the actress revealed in a Facebook post that she was raped several times by Vijay Babu. The actress said she was subjected to sexual exploitation from March 13, 2022 to April 14, 2022, by Vijay Babu, who also disclosed the name of the actress in his Facebook post. Later, the Ernakulam South Police took the statement of the actress and filed a case against the producer. The police also filed another case against the producer for revealing the name of the actress in his Facebook post.
