Kolkata, Feb 25 (FN Agency) Actor Payel Sarkar joined the Bharatiya Janata Party here today. A popular face in Tollywood, Sarkar joined the BJP’s election office at Hastings in presence of party’s state chief Dilip Ghosh.
Recently, another popular actor, Yash Dasgupta, had joined the saffron brigade. Yesterday, the ruling Trinamool Congress inducted director Raj Chakraborty, film personalities Saayoni Ghosh, Kanchan Mullick, June Malia, Sudeshna Roy and Manali Dey in presence of party supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at a rally in Hooghly.
Elections to the 294-member assembly are set to be announced soon. While Ms Banerjee is eyeing a hattrick, the opposition BJP, which bagged 18 of the state’s 42 parliamentary seats in 2019, is leaving no stone unturned to wrest power.
