Six more arrested in connection with loot, dacoity

Mangaluru, Apr 15 (Representative) Six more people have been arrested in connection with cases of theft and dacoity in Bajpe, Mulki and Moodbidri Police station limits. With the fresh arrests, total number of people arrested rose to 15. Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said the prime accused in the case and several other accused are yet to be arrested. Those arrested are Rakesh, Arjun, Mohan, Mohammad Zubair, Ibrahim Latif and Boliyar Mansoor. Police have seized car, mobile phones, air gun, gold and silver all worth Rs 41.82 lakhs from the arrested.

They have been produced before the court and taken into police custody, the Commissioner said. The accused were wanted in seven cases in Mangaluru, eight cases in the district, two in Hassan, three cases in Chikkamagaluru, two cases in Udupi, five in Kodagu and one case in Bengaluru. The Commissioner said the accused had earlier made a vain bid to loot the Axis Bank at Arehole in Hassan. The Commissioner said the pistol, which the accused had stolen from a house at Arehole, was used in attempt to murder case at Falnir. The accused Mansoor had sold the pistol to Sameer who was arrested in the attempt to murder case, the Commissioner said.
