Rs 3 cr worth of gold seized at Karipur International Airport

Malappuram, Jan 28 (Agency) Air customs Intelligence sleuths seized 5.719 kilograms of gold valued around Rs three crore from five passengers, who arrived at Karipur International Airport in different flights from three destinations, on Saturday. Customs Assistant Commissioner Sinoy K Mathew- led team detained, Salman Faris (21) of Engapuzha and Sharfudheen(28) of Atholi, duo hails in Kozhikode district, Nowshad (37) of Valluvambram, Jamsheer Mon (36) of Amayur and Muhammed Aslam (34) of Panthalur, trio hailing from Malappuram district, in this connection.

Customs officials seized 959 grams of gold from Salman Faris, who arrived from Dubai in Air India Express, while 1167 grams of gold seized from Nowshad, 1168 grams seized from Jamsheer Mon, 1170 grams of gold from Muhammed Aslam, trio arrived in Gulf Air flight from Jeddah and Bahrain .1255 grams of gold seized from Sharfudheen, who arrived in Fly Dubai from Dubai. All the arrested passengers were kept the smuggled compound form gold and concealed in four capsules each and kept inside their bodies, sources added.
