Robbery foiled at finance company in Thane, 7 arrested

Thane, Jun 27 (Agency) The Thane police on Sunday successfully foiled a robbery at a finance company in Ulhasnagar town of the district with the arrest of seven people. A police team on night patrolling duty were alerted when they heard the sound in the small hours of Sunday and rushed in and nabbed the seven with gas cutters and other equipment. They were trying to drill a hole in the wall of the finance company situated at Camp No 4 near the railway station from adjacent fruit shop, police said.

The accused had taken the fruit shop on rent just three days back to accomplish the plan and loot the finance company. The arrested were identified as Jahir Ahmed (30), Immamuddin Qasim Khan (57), Rijaul Shaikh (35), Ram Singh (32), Kalu Shaikh (55), Tapan Mandal (48) and Ajim Shaikh (28). They hailed from Uttar Pradesh, Nepal and Jharkhand but were residing in Ulhasnagar recently. The Vitthalwadi police have registered an offence under various sections of Indian Penal Code against the arrested accused, sources added.
