Bengaluru, April 26 (Representative) In a significant leap towards modernising ticketing services, Indian Railways has transformed its ticketing system with the introduction of the Unified Ticketing System (UTS) on Mobile app. This innovative app emphasises cashless transactions, contactless ticketing, and enhanced customer convenience, marking a new era in railway ticketing. A notable update in the UTS on Mobile application is the removal of distance restrictions for booking both journey and platform tickets. This groundbreaking change allows passengers to book tickets without geographical limitations, offering them unprecedented flexibility and convenience. The popularity of the UTS on Mobile app has soared since its inception. In April 2023, the app recorded an average of 5301 tickets sold daily.
Fast forward to April 2024, and this number has surged to an impressive 9388 tickets per day. This remarkable growth is a clear indication of the app’s convenience and efficiency resonating with passengers. One of the standout features of the UTS on Mobile app is the 3 percent bonus offered to users when recharging their R-Wallet for unreserved ticket bookings. This incentive makes the travel experience even more rewarding for passengers, encouraging them to embrace digital transactions. To further simplify the payment process, the UTS on Mobile app now integrates with UPI apps within the payment aggregator section. This integration allows passengers to complete transactions seamlessly using their preferred UPI app, enhancing the overall user experience.
Adding to the convenience, QR codes are now available on ATVMs. Passengers can easily scan the QR code with their Android or iOS device, download the UTS app, and start booking tickets using their R-Wallet. This integration of technology ensures a hassle-free ticketing experience, reducing queues and wait times at ticket counters.
