MLA Vijay Mishra’s grandson arrested in gang-rape case

Bhadohi, Dec 21 (Agency) Vikas Mishra, the grand-son of Uttar Pradesh MLA Vijay Mishra, who was accused of gang-raping a singer from Varanasi, was arrested by the police on Monday. He was arrested near the Kaulapur railway crossing, police said. Police sources on Monday here said that earlier, the MLA had been arrested from Madhya Pradesh’s Aagar Malwa district in a case pertaining to property dispute with his relative.

The Gopiganj police on Monday received a tip-off about Vikas Mishra and they reached the Kaulapur railway crossing and arrested him. He has been sent to jail. A female singer from Varanasi’s Jaitpura had accused Gyanpur MLA Vijay Mishra, his son and his nephew’s son of gang-raping her and had registered a case at the Gopiganj police station on October 18.
