Land surveyor among two booked in bribery case

Aurangabad, Aug 10 (Representative) A land surveyor and his brother were booked for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 90,000 here on Tuesday. The duo accused have been identified as Anil Vishnu Sawant, the official at the Paithan Land Record Office(LRO) and his brother Sachin. The erring official sought Rs one lakh in lieu of allowing the use of agricultural land as non-agricultural one and other related formality, stated the ACB quoting the complainant.

Post negotiations, the bribe amount was settled at Rs 90,000. Based on the allegation, a trap was laid in the premises of the LRO and Sachin was caught red-handed while taking the money at the behest of his brother, ACB apprised. A case has been filed against the duo with the Satara police station and further investigation is underway, it added.
