Srinagar, July 3 (Bureau) Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a notorious drug peddler and booked him under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and recovered contraband substance from his possession in Budgam district.
Police said that in the wee hours during a Naka checking at Qumru Crossing in central Kashmir’s Budgam district a police party intercepted one person carrying a nylon bag on his shoulder and roaming in a suspicious manner. During the search 9 KGs of poppy straw was recovered from his possession. The drug peddler, identified as Mohammad Khan a resident of Qumru Beerwa, was arrested on the spot.A case under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Beerwah and investigation taken up.
