Srinagar, Aug 5 (Agency) A drug peddler, resident of Punjab, was arrested in south Kashmir district of Kulgam, a police spokesman said Thursday evening. He said a check point was established by police at Yaripora in Kulgam. During the checking, a police party intercepted a truck from Punjab (PB10HA-0839) driven by a person identified as Jasveer Singh son of Palan Singh resident of Shairpur Moga Punjab.
The police recovered 16 Kg of poppy straw from his possession. The Spokesperson informed that the accused was arrested and the truck used in the commission of crime was also seized. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 51/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Yaripora and investigation has been taken up.
