New Delhi, Oct 13 (Agency) Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police has arrested three men who were allegedly involved in cheating people under the pretext of investment in medicinal tree plantation. The accused have misappropriated Rs 7 crore from 135 victims, police said on Wednesday. The police received a complaint from Mukesh Kumar who stated in his complaint that on the allurement of alleged men, he invested money in the partnership firm on the pretext that invested money would be used for the business of fisheries, floriculture and plantation of medicinal trees. The accused induced him of high return in a very short span of time. They told the prospective investors that the end product would be sold in foreign countries, which would fetch them high returns, said RK Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police, EOW. On their promise, Mukesh invested a sum of Rs 52 lakh in the company, but the company failed to deliver returns as promised. During the course the accused closed their business overnight and ran away, said Police.
During the investigation, 135 complainants filed their complaints against the alleged company and its directors and representatives. The total amount involved was Rs 7 crore. During the probe, bank accounts of the alleged company were scrutinized and ROC data was analyzed. Investigation revealed that the alleged firm had two partners whereas the alleged company had 3 directors. They had allured people at large to invest money in their business. The accused have been identified as Rajesh Kumar Laura (45) resident of Gurugram in Haryana, Ravi (28) resident of Hisar in Haryana and Gajanand Kaushik (41) of Fazilka in Punjab.
