Govt committed to encourage women entrepreneurs

Panaji, Jul 17 (Agency) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday reiterated government’s commitment to encourage women entrepreneurs in the state by providing them various schemes to boost their enterprise. Speaking at the felicitation ceremony of more than 15 independent entrepreneur women and self help groups who have started their own business around the Sanquelim and Bicholim area at Ravindra Bhavan Sanquelim, he said the various training sessions conducted for women with the assistance of NABARD would further provide the filip to them to become entrepreneurs and self-reliant.

The Chief Minister, congratulating NABARD for completing 40 years, said NABARD had been continuously working for agriculture and rural development. ‘NABARD has been providing financial assistance for establishing Rural Marts, thereby helping promote entrepreneurship amongst producer communities, SHGs. Goa Government with the help of NABARD will strive to train women and help them start their own business, thereby making goa swayampurna,’ he added. Dr Sawant also inaugurated Swayampurna the Rular Mart with NABARD’s support and said the super mart would help women to improve their business.
