YSRCP calls for de-recognition of TDP

New Delhi, Oct 28 (Agency) YSR Congress Party leaders on Thursday met Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra and submitted a memorandum demanding de-recognition of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for alleged “unruly conduct” and for “using cuss words” in public domain. In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner, YSRCP leader V. Vijaysai Reddy alleged that leaders of the TDP used “cuss words” in their public meetings and press conferences, and are showing the state in poor light by “linking it to drugs”.

“In light of the foregoing facts and circumstances, we request your good office to take stringent action against TDP by de-recognising it and setting an example for maintaining decency and decorum in public life and for preserving democratic ethics in the country,” Reddy said. Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu had met President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday over an attack at the Telugu Desam Party office and had demanded imposing President’s rule in the state. He also raised the issue of ganja being grown in Andhra Pradesh.
