Kejriwal calls on Pawar for support to save democracy

Mumbai, May 25 (FN Agency) AAP Convenor and Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday called on NCP supremo Sharad Pawar and requested his support to save democracy and oppose the NCTD Amendment Bill in Parliament. The Constitution Bench headed by the Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud recently held that the Delhi Government can make laws and administer civil services limiting the role of the LG in the national capital. The central government of the BJP quickly issued the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi Amendment Ordinance 2023 to reclaim power over the administrative services in the capital. According to the Chief Spokesperson of the NCP Mahesh met Pawar and requested his support to save democracy and oppose the said Bill in Parliament.

Kejriwal said that BJP uses unfair means to topple non BJP Governments by indulging in horse trading of MLAs, using the central agencies like ED and CBI to create fear or simply promulgates an ordinance against the popular Government. To limit the powers of a duly elected AAP Government in Delhi, the Central Govt under PM Modi has promulgated the National Capital Territory of Delhi Amendment Bill 2023 and issued an ordinance to that effect. Kejriwal said that Pawar is amongst the tallest leaders in the country and he should speak to opposition and other non BJP parties to oppose the said BIll in parliament. Pawar said that bringing such ordinances is an attempt to limit parliamentary democracy in the country and assured Kejriwal that NCP MPs will oppose the bill in the Parliament. Pawar further said that in 56 years of his parliamentary life he has never seen such a brazen attack against an elected government.
