New Delhi, Apr 9 (FN Agency) In a major boost to the Indian National Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha election, former Union Minister and BJP leader Birender Singh on Tuesday joined the party at the AICC headquarters here. The former Rajya Sabha MP joined the party alongwith his wife Prem Lata who represented the Uchana Kalan constituency in Haryana as an MLA. I am saying this because I have always followed. There are some beliefs in this country and we must follow them then only can our country become stronger,” he said. Welcoming Birender Singh into the party, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said, “Today is a joyous moment for us as we are welcoming back our family member, who is just like my elder brother to our house. Today the country needs to stand united as the democracy and the Constitution is under threat. We need to expand our strength so that democracy and Constitution is saved”. Meanwhile, Randeep Surjewala termed the joining of Birender Singh in the Congress as an “emotional moment” and hoped that his return to the party ahead of the Lok sabha election will strengthen the Congress.
