Democratic & secular parties should be united to defeat BJP : Raja

Vijayawada, April 26 (FN Agency) Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary D Raja said that it is imperative to all democratic and secular parties to be united to defeat the BJP. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Raja said the CPI is holding its 24th National Conference here from Wednesday in which it would analyse various issues including the emerging situation in the country, how to move forward, strengthen the party and reach out to people. “The CPI is going to discuss the emerging political situation in its National conference. We will also discuss how to reach out to secular forces and bring unity of Left parties”, he informed. “In the coming days, Assembly elections for several states including Gujarat will be held and the Lok Sabha election in 2024. The coming days are very challenging. In order to save the constitution and the country, democratic and secular parties and organisations should come together to resist the BJP collectively”, he said. The CPI General Secretary advised the Congress party to take a serious introspection and resolve issues within the party. “It is imperative to all democratic and secular parties to come together to put up a collective fight to the BJP. The democratic and secular parties should introspect and try to be more realistic.

Had the parties taken a decision to resist the BJP together, the election results in UP, Goa, Assam and Uttarakhand would have been different”, he opined. Launching a scathing attack on the BJP led Union government, Raja alleged that the BJP is trying to subvert the democratic system and federal structure. It is snatching away powers from the state governments, he flayed, adding that India is facing multiple crisis because of the BJP led NDA government. Communal clashes, attacks on minorities, Dalits and Adivasis are growing and the BJP-RSS must hold responsible for this. Expressing concern over the growing communal clashes in the country, he said that the country is facing a threat for the communal harmony. “The inflation, prices of commodities, unemployment are rising while the GDP is declining. The Indian economy is crumbling”, he slammed. “The BJP has made Bulldozer as a national symbol”, the CPI General Secretary ridiculed. CPI state Secretary K Ramakrishna found fault with the Jagan Mohan Reddy headed YSRCP government for using oppressive and arbitrary methods to foil the Chalo CMO programme by the teachers on Monday. Police were posted at schools to prevent teachers from participating in the programme which amounted to insulting the teaching community, he flayed.
