Cong takes dig at Delhi govt over surge in Covid cases

New Delhi, Aug 12 (Agency) Congress on Friday took a dig at Arvind Kejriwal-led government over spike in Covid-19 cases in Delhi. “Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is making statements and locking horns with the Central government on the ‘revdi (freebie) culture’, instead of implementing strong steps to arrest the spike in the pandemic,” Delhi Congress unit president Anil Kumar Chaudhary said.

He said, “The Kejriwal government should have taken strong steps when the national Capital witnessed an uptick in daily Covid-19 cases over the last week. As many as 2,726 Covid-19 cases were reported in the national capital on Thursday. It is a matter of grave concern.” Attacking the Delhi government, Chaudhary further said, “Instead of ensuring that people comply with the Covid guidelines like wearing of mask in public places, the Delhi Government has decided to impose Rs 500 fine on those caught violating the mask mandate. ” He claimed that the people were in no position to pay the fines due to economic distress, unemployment, price rise and loss of livelihoods, but Kejriwal seemed least bothered about people’s plight.
