Guwahati, Mar 13 (Agency) The Congress on Tuesday released the second list of 12 candidates for Lok Sabha elections from Assam. Addressing a press conference here, All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary K C Venugopal shared the list of candidates.In Assam, Congress is contesting 13 of the 14 Lok Sabha seats. The party is leaving one seat from Dibrugarh for its ally, Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP).AICC has not yet named any candidate for Lakhimpur.
Among the 12 candidates are Gaurav Gogoi (Jorhat), Guwahati – Meera Barthaakur Goswami, Nagaon – Pradyut Bordoloi, Dhubri- Rakibul Hussain, Diphu- Joyram Engleng, Kokrajhar- Garjon Mashhary, Darrang-Udalguri- Madhav Rajbongshi Sonitpur- Premlal Gunju, Silchar- Surjya Kumar Sarkar, Karimganj – Hafiz Rashid Choudhury, Barpeta- Deep Bayan, Kaziranga – Roselina Tirkey.It may be noted that the BJP has already released a list of 11 Lok Sabha candidates from the state, reserving the remaining three seats for allies Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL).
