BJP, AAP to show their strength on April 6

Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh), March 30 (Agency) After the BJP and AAP’s performance in the recently-held assembly elections, the parties are now gearing up for the upcoming polls in Himachal Pradesh that will be held on April 6. After Punjab, the AAP has now decided to spread its wings in Himachal Pradesh where only BJP and Congress have ruled for years. Arvind Kejriwal-led party would be holding a state-level rally at Mandi on April 6, the day when the BJP would be celebrating its foundation day all over India. Mandi is the home district of the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur who is preparing for the second term after the November 2022 elections. The AAP has decided to organise a rally and take out a procession in which the Delhi Chief Minister and party chief Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan would be taking part as well.

The party has decided to arrange a gathering of about 50,000 people for the Mandi rally. Gaurav Sharma, state spokesman of the party is sure that the Mandi rally would be a grand success as people are fed up with both the Congress and BJP and wanted to bring AAP as the third alternative in the state. On other hand, the BJP has urged its cadre to ensure that the AAP rally fails. The top leaders of the party are already in the field led by Saudan Singh, the vice president of the party-cum-zonal in-charge of the party’s state unit. Singh has already taken part in the meetings of all the four Parliamentary constituencies of the state. The party is gearing up for the April 6th rallies all over the state to observe the foundation day as a mega event.

On other hand, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has been actively canvassing in different parts of the state and launching scathing attacks on Congress, AAP and other left parties in the state. Union Information Minister-cum-Sport Minister, Anurag Thakur, and his father-cum-former HP Chief Minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal have already launched the party campaign in various parts of the state, especially in the Hamirpur Parliamentary constituency from where Junior Dhumal is the MP. Sources close to Anurag Thakur told UNI on Wednesday that their leader was going to concentrate in the state much ahead of the announcement of the assembly election. The Congress party has also started its campaign in full swing after the meeting of its top state-level leaders with the party supremo Sonia Gandhi. She has ordered the party leaders to contest the next elections jointly. She further said that the party face would be decided later on.
