World Press Freedom Day marked with pledges to protect Journalists

New Delhi, May 4 (Agency) The Department of Communication and Media Technology of JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, Haryana observed the World Press Freedom Day on 3rd May. The Chairperson of the department with all faculty members, staff, and Media students took a pledge to continue work for the voice of the Voiceless. The pledge was taken to uphold the principles of Truth, Impartiality, and Public service in Journalism ensuring that the trust and confidence of the public in journalism are never compromised. On this occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof SK Tomar congratulated the department.

The Chairperson, Dr Pawan Singh said “Journalism is a responsible and challenging profession. Being media teachers we get certain privileges and it is our duty to use these privileges for the betterment of society. Our wrong writing and reporting can destroy the careers of people and also cause social tension. Therefore, we should always do a lot of fact-checking before reporting on any issue”. Dr Bharat Dhiman, Assistant Professor of the department, coordinated the event. The World Press Freedom Day is celebrated every year on 3rd May. It was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in December 1993, following the recommendation of UNESCO’s General Conference.
