New Delhi, May 22, (FN Representative) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday claimed that the state was leading in about four dozen government schemes nationally. “Five years ago, UP used to be considered a barrier in the development of the country, which means a state that hinders development of the country. But in the past five years, under a nationalist and honest government, the state has become number one in about four dozen government schemes in the country. UP stood nowhere in these schemes before,” he claimed. Virtually addressing the Media Mahamanthan conclave organised by Panchjanya in the national capital, the Chief Minister claimed that UP has been leading in several development indexes. He also touched upon the law and order situation in the state and said that riots in UP were a thing of the past.
“It was this UP only that witnessed 700 riots between 2012 and 2017. The state saw riots and curfew for months. It was the same UP, which used to witness riots on small issues. Be it Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, Muradabad, Meerut, Bulandshahar, Kanpur, Lucknow or Ayodhya… curfew used to be imposed for months. But in the past five years, no riot took place. Every citizen feels safe in UP, particularly our daughters and sisters,” he said. Many states of the country witnessed severe riots soon after results of the Assembly polls, but UP remained peaceful, added the Chief Minister. “Ramanavami and Hanuman Jayanti passed off peacefully without disturbances…. for the first time, the Namaz of Eid was not performed on roads,” he said. Yogi said the mikes of religious places were being donated to hospitals for their use. “For the first time, one lakh loudspeakers from religious place were either removed or their volume was lowered. The mikes are now being donated to hospitals,” he said. Media Mahamanthan is a conclave organised by Panchjanya in the national capital. Eight Chief Ministers, including Yogi Adityanath, participated in the conclave and shared their views of various aspects of media and governance.
