Hindustan Tibet, Manali-Leh, Manali-Rohtang-Kaza & Keylong-Pangi highway disrupted by fresh snowfall

Shimla, Jan 20 (Representative) Hindustan Tibet National Highway no-5, Manali -Leh NH-3 and Tandi-Pangi SH 26 was disrupted by fresh snowfall which continued since Thursday night in the state. Reports arriving here said Old Hindustan Tibet National Highway. no-5 disrupted due to mounting of 10 to 15cm snow at Kufri and Narkanda. Jakhu and other high peaks also receive three to four cm snowfall. Khadrala(Shimla) had 16 cm, Shilaroo five cm, Chhitkul 15 cm, Sangla (Kinnaur) 7.5 cm Pooh 7 cm and Kalpa 5.7 cm, Kukemseri 3 cm & Keylong one cm. Keylong -Manali remained closed due to heavy snowfall and snow accumulation on the north and south portal of Rohtang Tunnel road, hence movement of all types of vehicles is restricted. District administration Lahaul-Spiti said Border Road Organization will investigate and start clearance work as the weather improves. Traffic movement would be permitted after clearance from BRO. Vehicular movement will only be permitted after clearance of NH – 03 North Portal to Darcha – Shinkula Zanskar(closed) SH – 26 Tandi to Kaddu Nullah Road(closed) NH – 505 Koksar to Losar( Closed) & Keylong to Baralacha Pass (closed). Due to inclement weather Locals & tourists are advised to be very cautious while traveling in the valley. In case of snowfall, they are requested to move and stay in safe places. All Hotel and Homestay owners All Gram Panchayat Pradhan, NGOs have been warned. Trekkers and Pedestrians are requested to spread this message to maximum people so that any unpleasant incident can be avoided. In the state 275 roads and four National Highway are snowbound.In Lahaul-Spiti and Shimla district 177 and 64 road are affected.

Power supply also affected in 330 Distribution Transformer Region. In Karsog and Gohar of Mandi and Spiti Subdivision of Lahaul-Spiti 105 roads are affected. State Disaster Management authority spokesperson confirmed that 13050 ft high Rohtang pass got 45 cm snowfall, South Portal Rohtang Tunnel 30 cm, Malana(Kullu) 17 cm, Solang 15 cm, North portal Rohtang (Lahaul-Spiti) 12.5 cm, In Chamba district Khajiyar and Bharmour five cm, Jot and Killar eight cm, In Shimla Churdhar 25 cm, Chanshal 30cm, Khadapather 10cm , Khadki 15 cm, Dodrakawar 25 cm, Haripurdhar of Siramaur five cm, Badabengal and Trirund of Kangra district 18 cm. District Administration Shimla also issued Advisory which stated that Snowfall is continuously occurring in upper areas of Shimla district due to which major roads are blocked or slippery for plying of vehicles. Work to clearing the roads is also going on Theog-Chopal road near Khidki( Blocked) . Theog-Rohru Road near Khadapather – (Blocked). Theog-Rampur Road Near Narkanda-. (Blocked) Shimla-Theog road near Kufri-Galu-Fagu ( slippery) . Shimla Police requests you not to travel till the roads get cleared. Manali had 16 mm rainfall, Goahr(Mandi) 11,Mandi, Tinder(Chamba): 8 mm, Seobagh 7 mm, Shimla, Sarahan (Sirmour) six mm, Poantashaib, Bhuntar, Sundernagar, Dharmshala, Dalhousie and Reckongpeo had five mm rain, Jubberhatti, DhaulaKaun (Sirmaur) four mm and Palampur 3 mm. Many other places were also lashed by rain and snowfall.
