Delhi Tourism to showcase Hauz Khas through Heritage Walk

New Delhi, Mar 25 (Agency) Delhi Tourism would conduct a Heritage Walk on Saturday morning at one of the national capital’s cultural hotspots- Hauz Khas.Delhi’s Tourism minister Atishi Singh would also grace the occasion and address the participants of the Walk.Hauz Khas is one of the major tourism hot spots of the national capital, it used to be a big water reservoir in the medieval times, now it boasts of the large district Park commonly referred to as the Deer Park. The Deer Park contains within itself well preserved monuments dating back to medieval times that overlooks a large eye pleasing lake. The Lake provides spectacular view during sunrise and sunset and is a must see for photographers and travel lovers alike.

Firoz Shah’s Tomb, Munda Gumbad and structures of a Madarsa and an Assembly hall are some of the monuments the Deer Park hosts. As the name suggests the park is inhabited by Deer, who are enclosed in one part of the park, but that’s not all visitors can also see rabbits and guinea pigs in a particular enclosure. Monkeys are ubiquitous and vampire bats inhabit the park in large numbers and multitude of those can be seen returning to the trees during dusk which is quite a sight to behold, sighting snakes during monsoon is not uncommon either.The Deer Park is very popular among all age groups whether it is picnic goers, nature and animal lovers, fitness enthusiasts, Vlogers, photographers or students bunking their school or college.Besides a lake and awe inspiring monuments, the Deer Park also has in its vicinity the Hauz Khas market which has a number of aesthetically appealing boutiques, a multitudes of exotic restaurants and hookah bars and pubs offering a panoramic view of the Lake.

The walk lasting about 20 minutes would be led by a well informed Delhi Tourism licensed guide and it would spread awareness regarding the site’s Architectural heritage and history.The Delhi Tourism is planning a series of such walks in Connaught Place and adjoining areas, Old Delhi and Mehrauli Archeological Park.The Heritage Walk would start from 0810 hrs on Saturday, participants are requested to gather by 0800 hrs in front of Firoz Shah’s Tomb.
