Covid Transmission rate continues to fall in last 10 days

Lucknow, May 4 (Agency) Continuing the positive Covid recovery trend, Uttar Pradesh for the fifth consecutive day recorded more daily recoveries than the number of fresh cases — in the same span of time. The state recorded a total of 25,858 new cases in the last 24 hours, whereas, the number of recoveries was 38,683, which is almost 13,000 more than the fresh covid cases, officials here on Tuesday disclosed.

With the covid-19 situation in the state improving consistently, Uttar Pradesh recorded recovery of more than 38,000 people in the last 24 hours adding up to the recovery of a total of 10,81,817 people so far. When the number of recoveries exceeds the number of active cases, it is considered as an indication of ‘flattening the curve’ statewide. Intensifying preventive measures to control the spread of Covid-19 as per the target of ‘test, trace and treat’, Uttar Pradesh, conducted a total of 2,08,558 tests in the last 24 hours.

Despite being the most populous state in the country, Uttar Pradesh has outperformed several other states including Delhi, Maharashtra and Rajasthan by conducting a total of 2,08,558 tests in a single day, out of which more than 1,18,000 tests were conducted through the RT-PCR method. The state has successfully conducted over 4.18 crore Covid tests so far, which is a national record. Earlier on May 2, Uttar Pradesh had set a record by conducting 2,97,021 COVID tests in a single day itself. In pursuance of the order of the Centre, CM Yogi has instructed to take the Phase 3 of the COVID-19 vaccination drive across the state, in a planned and organised manner. With more than 1,04,63,033 people being given the first dose and more than 24,50,536 people receiving both the doses, UP accounted for the maximum number of persons vaccinated.
