Moscow, June 28 (Agency) An explosive object from the times of Second World War has been found in water area of ????the docks of Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s (CPC) marine terminal, which will be destroyed on the spot, the administration of the southern Russian city of Novorossiysk said on Tuesday. “On June 27, an explosive object was identified in the safety zone of a remote mooring device… of CPC marine terminal… Transportation of the object is inexpedient, it is planned to destroy it at the place of discovery from 06:00 to 17:00 on June 29 and 30, 2022,” a statement said here.

The object found was a deep-sea mine defender, the statement noted, adding that on June 27, a state of emergency was introduced in the city, which will be in effect until the end of mine clearance. The company later said that the only operating outrigger berth of its oil terminal was operating normally, as it was located outside the emergency zone being introduced. CPC has been conducting a scheduled examination of the water area of ??its berths in the Black Sea since June 15. The Russian energy ministry added that the additional examination will last until July 5. During this period, the oil will be shipped only from one of the three outrigger berths, but all shippers’ requests will be fulfilled, said the company. The coastal sea areas of the region were a recurring war zone in the past, the company said, adding that it was decided to check this zone before proceeding with repair work on the bottom of the Black Sea. CPC is a joint venture to transport Caspian oil from the Tengiz field in northwestern Kazakhstan to the Novorossiysk-2 Marine Terminal on Russia’s Black Sea coast. It is also a major export route for oil from Kazakhstan’s Kashagan and Karachaganak oil fields.
