New Delhi, Sep 26 (Agency) In a major crackdown, Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested four interstate auto-lifters and recovered high end luxury SUVs from them. The accused have been identified as Faisal (30), Azharuddin (25), Kuldeep Singh (39) and Manish Kumar Panwar. With the arrest of four auto-lifters and one receiver of two different gangs, the team of Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of Shahdara Delhi busted two interstate auto-lifting gangs active in trans-Yamuna area and National Capital Region. According to police, during analyzing the incidents, it was noticed that auto-lifters were targeting two types of vehicles, Luxury and Honda City cars having CNG Kit. Then police scanned CCTVs collected from crime scenes and found that the accused used electronic devices and other instruments to break the lock as well as security system in order to steal the vehicles.
The auto-lifters were using stolen cars with fake number plates and also covering their face and head by wearing caps and masks on their faces. On September 9, a police team spotted some suspicious men replacing the number plates of two vehicles, Brezza and Creta, near CBD Ground at Vivek Vihar. The cops rounded up all suspects to verify the facts. Suspects, however, quickly entered into the cars and tried to escape from the spot. When the police team tried to stop the suspects, they hit a policeman and fled away whereas the driver of another car assaulted another cop with a small iron rod in order to escape, but the police overpowered a man in the driver seat. During the checking the Brezza car was found stolen from the MS Park area. In this connection, Faisal and Ajruddin were arrested and a case was registered against them. During questioning, both revealed that they, along with their associates, Kuldeep and Parvej, had stolen around 50 luxury cars from Delhi NCR areas and sold them to their associates in other states. During search of their residence two more stolen car were recovered Team collected the relevant information regarding the absconding gang members then cops came to know that the gang was being operated by Kuldeep.
The gang used a technical support system to decode the engine control module (ECM) and to start their engine. After stealing the cars, they used to forge engine and chassis numbers and gave a new identity to the vehicle. Kuldeep is expert in making Digital keys through his programmer tools to steal the car. Kuldeep was later apprehended by the AATS. On the instance of Kuldeep, the team also apprehended one receiver Manish. According to police, Manish told police that he used to sell these stolen vehicles to the smugglers, who would supply illegal liquor and Dhoda Posta Chura (Opium Poppy) as there was a heavy demand of these cars Brezza , Creta and Scorpio among the smugglers. AATS team also nabbed Parvez from Bilaspur in UP and a stolen car was recovered on his instance.
