Nora Fatehi faces flak for her take on feminism

New Delhi, Apr 17 (FN Agency) Actress Nora Fatehi’s remarks on feminism have come as quite a shocker, especially since it is a complete foil to her public image. Bollywood actor Nora recently made an appearance on ‘The Ranveer Show’. In the podcast, Nora expressed that she doesn’t believe in feminism, stating that it has “f**ked up the society” and has “brainwashed” men. She emphasised traditional gender roles, asserting that women are inherently nurturers and should embrace roles as mothers. This discussion prompted comparisons to Priyanka Chopra’s perspective on feminism. In her own words on the show, Nora highlighted the importance of traditional gender roles, stating, “The idea of being inherently completely independent and not having to get married and have kids and not having the male and female dynamics at home where the man is the provider, a breadwinner, and the woman is the nurturer, I don’t believe in people who think that’s not true.

I think women are nurturers, yes, they should go to work and have their own life and be independent but to a certain extent. They should also be ready to take on the role of being a mother, a wife and a nurturer.” Online critics swiftly condemned Nora’s comments as regressive and lacking in depth on such a nuanced topic. One comment summed it up, “Women’s arguments for being against feminism r so ironic. they r always like: I don’t need feminism bcoz I can vote, I feel safe, I get equal pay. I feel like an equal member of society glad u r comfortable cuz the only reason u’re in that position is, listen up, bcs of feminism.” People were quick to contrast Nora’s views with PeeCee’s, praising the latter’s nuanced understanding of feminism.
