Kolhapur, Nov 24 (Agency) Four Sangli district natives were arrested here on Tuesday for allegedly possessing unaccounted cash of Rs 20 lakh. The accused have been identified as spice trader Salim Amin Sanadi, Mustafa Mehboob Sanadi, Davao Husen Chaudhari and Ganesh Maruti Pawar. According to the Kurundwad Police, all of them were caught by a patrol squad deployed to check on shady finances ahead of the Council polls scheduled on December 1.
They were stopped while moving suspiciously in a car towards the neighboring Karnataka state. The vehicle’s check led to the discovery of the cash. The accused could not give satisfactory reply regarding the source of the whopping amount, police stated, adding the car has been seized while the money was deposited in the Shirol treasury.
