Rs 1.10 cr valued gold seized, two held at Kannur Int’l Airport

Kannur, June 7 (FN Agency) In a joint operation of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Air Customs sleuths on Wednesday, seized 1797 grams of gold valued at around Rs 1.10 crore lakh from two passengers, who arrived from Dubai in Air India Express at Kannur International Airport.

Customs sources said they detained Muhammed Althaf of Kasaragod district with 1157 grams of gold worth Rs 71 lakh and Muhammed Basheer of Payyanur in Kannur district with 640 grams of gold valued at Rs 39 lakh, in this connection. The smuggled paste form gold was concealed inside the socks worn on the legs of both passengers.
