Kadapa, Dec 2 (Agency) The police seized 98 red saner logs worth Rs 4 crore while being transported illegally and arrested 30 persons including 11 notorious red sander smugglers. SP Anburajan told the media here on Wednesday that on a tip-off the police arrested notorious red sander smuggler Mastan and his four accomplices at Sheni temple at Siddavatam. On the information provided by them, the police conducted raids and arrested the rest of the 25 persons at various places in the surrounding areas of Mydukur and Rajampet and seized red sander logs worth Rs 4 crore. The police also seized a lorry and four cars. The red sander logs were being shifted to Bangalore. Out of the 30 red sander smugglers arrested today, 28 smugglers belong to Kadapa district while two belong to Karnataka state. The SP said that six of the arrested red sander smugglers were repeated offenders and the Preventive Detention (PD) Act would be invoked against them. The police arresting 30 red sander smugglers and seizing 98 red sander longs worth Rs 4 crore was the first major operation during the year, the SP said.
