Punjab: BSF seizes 7.25 kg heroin in Amritsar sector

Jalandhar, Jan 20 (Agency) Alert Border Security Force (BSF) jawans once again foiled the nefarious attempt of anti-national elements to smuggle contraband and seized seven packets (weighing 7.25 kg) suspected to be heroin in Amritsar sector, here on Thursday. BSF troops on the intervening night of January 19-20 heard the humming sound of a flying object coming from Pakistan.

As per the drill, troops engaged the object by firing at it and also illuminated the area by firing illumination bombs and informed all sister agencices as per SOP, BSF sources said. BSF jawans heard the sound of dropping from the flying object and cordoned the area. In the morning, a search was carried out and seven packets (weighing 7.25 kgs) suspected to be of heroin were recovered from the area.
