Nagaland police seizes contraband drugs worth Rs. 1.5 Cr

Kohima, Nov 24 (Agency) A team of Kohima Police on Wednesday seized suspected heroin weighing 498 grams and worth approximately Rs. 1.5 crore in the international market. According to the PRO of Kohima Police has informed that the team of Kohima Police was conducting routine checking of vehicles at the Phesama Check Gate, where the team intercepted one Mahindra Scorpio bearing Assam registration number, which was proceeding towards Dimapur from Senapati of Manipur and detected 498 grams of suspected heroin neatly packed in 39 soap cases.

The contraband was found concealed underneath the spare tyre and engine compartment of the said vehicle. He also informed that two persons have been arrested and the contraband along with the vehicle has been seized. During preliminary investigation, the value of the illegal contraband is found to be worth approximately Rs. 1.5 crore in the international market. Accordingly, a case has been registered at South Police Station in Kohima for the purpose of further investigation.
