Thane, Jan 17 (Representative) Three people, including a married couple, have been arrested by the police on the charges of alleged house break-ins and thefts in Kalyan and Ambernath towns of the district. An offence of house break-in and theft was registered with the MFC police station where the unidentified thieves had allegedly stolen gold ornaments and other equipment from the locked houses on Jan 14, police said on Saturday.
During the probe, the police arrested accused — Shekar Nataraj Nair (34), Sunita Shekar Nair (28) and Devendra Ganesh Shetty (23) — from Ulhasnagar based on close circuit TV camera footage. During interrogation, they confessed to two other crimes, police said and informed that the two men used to break the houses and steal the ornaments and other things, whereas the woman used to dispose of the stolen booty. Police have recovered stolen goods, including jewellery, collectively worth Rs 4,11,200 from the arrested accused, sources added.
