Four arrested for creating fake robbery scene

New Delhi, Sep 29 (FN Agency) Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested four men including two employees of the complainant for allegedly planning a fake robbery to dupe money. Police got a complaint from Rishabh Kumar who runs a business of supplying mobile displays in Karol Bagh Market, stating that one of his employees, Abhishek Kumar, was sent for collection of payment of Rs 1,95,000 from Chandni Chowk area. At around 6.00 pm he collected cash and he was supposed to turn up at his office at 6:30 pm, but till 7:00 pm, he did not return. Rishabh made calls on Abhishek’s mobile but it was switched off, police said. When the complainant along with his colleagues looked for Abhishek, he was found at Traffic Signal near Karol Bagh Police Station. He had multiple injuries of cut marks on the body.

When the complainant asked about the injuries, he stated two unknown persons attacked him and robbed the cash. After getting this information, Police along with the complainant rushed to the spot to verify the truth of the incident. During questioning, Abhishek kept changing his version, which raised suspicion. On cross questioning about the sequence of incident, the alleged victim Abhishek broke down and confessed about creating the fake scene of robbery along with his associates to dupe Rishabh of money. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he along with his colleague Rahul Sharma, who is also an employee of the complainant, Afroz Khan alias Kalu and Uma Shankar alias Vivan had hatched the conspiracy to grab the amount on the pretext of fake robbery.

As per the plan, Abhiskek collected the cash Rs 1,95,000 from Chandni Chowk area and reached Filmistan Road at Model Basti, where Afroz and Uma Shankar met him. He handed over the bag containing cash to Uma Shankar. Thereafter, Abhishek made self-inflicted injuries on his body with a sharp object and Afroz also beat him with a belt to make the injuries real, Sagar Singh Kalsi, DCP, north Delhi, said. At the instance of Abhishek, Rs 70,000 was recovered from his possession. Further raids were conducted and all the accused were arrested and the remaining amount was recovered from them.
