Delhi police registers two cases on complaints received from JNU students

New Delhi, June 7 (Agency) Delhi Police have registered two separate FIRs on the basis of complaints received from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students regarding alleged physical assault, molestation and attempt to kidnap, a senior police official said on Wednesday. According to police, two complaints, one regarding alleged physical assault and another regarding alleged molestation, attempt to kidnap, were received from JNU students. The cases have been registered. In both the cases the accused and vehicle are the same and have been identified. The police said the probe into the matter is underway.

The JNU students alleged that a shocking incident occurred when a car carrying drunk boys, attempted to kidnap two girls walking on one of the campus roads. They said that recent incidents have raised serious questions about the effectiveness of the security measures in the campus.The students were demanding for a secure and inclusive campus environment where the safety of all students, particularly women, is a top priority.
