New Delhi, Jan 19 (Representative) A case has been filed at Kotla Mubarakpur Police Station on the basis of a complaint of Delhi Commission for Women(DCW) chief Swati Maliwal who was allegedly misbehaved against and dragged by man in a car near AIIMS Hospital, police said on Thursday. The accused, identified as Harish Chandra (47), has been apprehended from Delhi’s Sangam Vihar, said Police. According to police, a PCR call was received early morning regarding misbehaviour and dragging incident with a woman near AIIMS hospital. The Police patrol vehicle rushed to the spot where team saw a woman, identified as Delhi Commission for Women, chief, Swati Maliwal, on the pavement opposite AIIMS gate number 2. Maliwal told the police and mentioned that a person driving a car stopped near her and asked her to sit in the car with bad intentions.
A senior police officer claimed, when she refused to sit in his car, man went forward but again came back after taking a U turn from the service lane. He once again asked her to sit in the car. The woman refused and went near the driver’s side window to reprimand him. The car driver quickly rolled up the window, hence her hand got stuck and she was dragged for 10-15 mtrs. South district control room broadcast the message about the car. The team of mobile 28 (PS Kotla) reached the spot. Subsequently the staff of PS Kotla reached the spot including the ATO and ACP Hauz Khas (who was on night patrol), and the said vehicle was apprehended by the PCR. A written complaint was taken from Maliwal. The driver of the vehicle and complainant were sent for medical examination, said police.
