CBI arrests two Railway Protection Force men in bribery case

New Delhi, Dec 6 (Agency) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested two Railway Protection Force personnel, Inspector and Head Constable, who were posted at Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 63 thousand from a person. The men have been identified as Inspector RPF Akhilesh Yadav and Head Constable RPF Ashutosh Tripathi. According to CBI, it received a complaint from a person who alleged that the Inspector through his subordinate demanded bribe at the rate of Rs 3 thousand for full rack and Rs 15 hundred for half rack for unloading of racks related his work of unloading fertilizer and cement racks at the Railway Mal Godown at Barabanki, and the complainant was allegedly threatened by them to book him in a fake case and would not allow him to work at Railway Mal Godown, if he did not pay the bribe.

The complainant had allegedly unloaded a total 23 racks, including 19 full and 4 half in November following which the accused allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 63 thousand. In fact, another accused was allegedly demanding Rs 500 per rack too, said CBI. On the basis of the complaint, the sleuths laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting a bribe of Rs 63 thousand from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the premises of both men, including at Barabanki. Cash amounting to Rs 5.46 lakh, and incriminating documents were recovered from the premises of Inspector, said CBI. Both were produced before the Court and remanded to Judicial Custody.
