CBI arrests three officials including Superintending Engineer of PWD in bribery case

New Delhi, Dec 3 (Agency) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested three officers, including the Superintending Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) for allegedly accepting the bribe from a person. CBI said in a statement, trio, Superintending Engineer , Technical Officer and Junior Engineer, are Public Works Department (R&B) at Circle Udhampur-Reasi in Udhampur (J&K) on the allegations of accepting the bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from a complainant. A case was registered on the basis of a complaint against the accused that they were allegedly demanding the bribe. The complainant’s firm was awarded tender for construction of the Medical Sub-Centre in district Reasi during 2017-18 and the complainant executed some part of the project.

The Superintending Engineer, Circle Udhampur – Reasi allegedly demanded the bribe of Rs 3 lakh from the complainant for processing the file related to technical sanction of the project, said CBI. On the basis of complaint, CBI sleuths laid a trap and caught the Junior Engineer while accepting part bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from the complainant allegedly on behalf of Superintending Engineer, on the instructions of Technical Officer. Later, the Superintending Engineer and Technical Officer were also caught by the CBI. Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused at Jammu, Udhampur and Srinagar. All the accused were produced before the Court today.
