Chennai, Jan 3 (Agency) Officials of the Customs Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) on Sunday seized 621 gms of gold valued at Rs 31.87 lakh from two passengers who arrived from Dubai at the Anna International airport here. A release from the office of the Commissioner of Customs said based on information, two passengers, Thameem Ansari Samsudeen (28) of Chennai and Jahabar Ali Abdul Wahab (49) of Thanjavur, who arrived from Dubai by Air India Flight, were intercepted at the exit. On their personal search, two pouches of gold paste weighing 733 gms were found concealed ingeniously by stitching the inside underwear. On extraction 621 gms of gold of 24K purity valued at Rs.31.87 lakh was recovered and seized under the Customs Act. Further investigation is under progress.
