CBI sends summons to Bengal Min Manas Bhunia

Kolkata, Sep 19 (Agency) The CBI has sent summons to Trinamool Congress leader and West Bengal minister Manas Bhunia, in connection with its ongoing probe against Ponzi investment firm i-Core scam case. The summon notice has asked the minister of Water Resources Investigation and Development to appear at the agency’s CGO Complex office in Salt Lake around 1200 hours on Monday.

The latest summon notice to Manas Bhunia, an MLA from Sabang in West Medinipur, happened just a week after the central probe agency quizzed Bengal senior minister Partha Chatterjee (Commerce and Industry) over two hours at his city office in the i-Core scam case investigation. Sources said Mr Bhunia would likely be quizzed about his reported presence at a programme organized by the iCore Group. Now defunct iCore Group chief Anukul Maiti, who was arrested by CBI and lodged at Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar died of Covid-19 in November last year.
