Rs 1,576 cr revenue secured in FY 2023-24: Palakkad DRM

Palakkad, May 3 (FN Agency) The Palakkad Divisional Railway manager (DRM), Arun Kumar Chaturvedi, has said the division secured Rs 1,576.17 crore in revenue in the financial year 2023-24, from various sectors. He said the revenue included from Passenger trains of Rs 964.19 crore, while other coaching services Rs 65.96 crore (including special trains, shooting specials and platform tickets), goods Rs 481.36 crore by facilitating trade and commerce in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka of South India and sundry income of Rs 64.66 crore (sources such as parcel services, advertising, parking fee and leasing of railway properties).

The division’s prudent financial management practices have played a crucial role in maintaining fiscal discipline and achieving budgetary targets, he said. The revenues generated are being invested in several key infrastructure projects, including Amrit Station redevelopment, a new goods yard at Ullal, extra platforms at Mangalore Central, and several other railway station platforms and passenger amenities upgrades, Chaturvedi said. These projects will significantly improve connectivity within the division and with neighbouring regions, facilitating smoother movement of goods and people, he added.
